The Ugliest Dogs in the World

Ugliest Dog 2011: Yoda

The winner of the 2011 contest was Yoda, a Chinese Crested and Chihuahua cross (Hanford, California). Yoda has now sadly died. She passed away peacefully at the age of 15. Her owner was devastated by the loss of her beloved, unique dog. When she saw Yoda for the first time, she actually thought she was a rat.

Ugliest Dog 2010: Princess Abby

Princess Abby’s back legs are considerably longer than her front legs, which gives her an unusual crooked walk that impressed the jury at the 2010 contest. This little Chihuahua didn’t have it easy: a charity saved her life just five months earlier when she was picked up from the street full of fleas and malnourished. Her new owner Kathleen Francis is proud to have Abby: “She’s my best friend. Abby has done more for me than I have for her.”

Ugliest Dog 2009: Pabst

“Pabst, Pabst!” cried the crowds in 2009 as the jury was deciding between the four-year-old Boxer cross Pabst and purebred Rascal. Rascal was already an old hand: she took the title in 2002. Rescue dog Pabst was taking part in the contest for the first time. But he wasn’t scared, and shone his pearly whites - and it’s a good job: his underbite helped him win. “I don’t think he’s ugly!” said his owner Miles Egstad from California. Pabst won the audience’s hearts with his funny personality.
