Horseshoe Bat
Facts
- Family: Horseshoe Bats
- Habitat: Eurasia, Africa, Australia
Appearance
Horse shoes might be lucky but they sure aren’t pretty
The horseshoe bat looks like its name: they have skin flaps on their face that look like horse shoes. In folklore, horse shoes stand for good luck. As long as you hang them up with the open side facing up. But the horse shoe bat doesn’t have any luck when it comes to looks. At least in our eyes.
But seriously, they don’t need to be cute as they’re only active at night and love the dark. Their special nose shape intensifies sounds to help them find their way in the dark.
