The Most Dangerous Venomous Snakes: Africa

Puff Adder
- Scientific name: Bitis arietans
- Family: Elapidae
- Genus: Puff adders
- Length: Up to 6.2 feet (1.9 meters)
- Venom: Cytotoxic
The puff adder likes to sunbathe on paths, doesn’t run away from people, and isn’t afraid to bite - as well as long teeth, this snake also has the strongest viper venom (and plenty of it, too). If a bite isn’t properly treated, the tissue around the wound can die so that the leg or arm has to be amputated.
