9th Place: Wolves
The big bad wolf – they don’t get an especially good rep in fairy tales. When they howl at the moon on a spooky night, you might get shivers right down your spine. And then there’s the werewolf, a human that turns into a wolf at the full moon. Thankfully, they’re not real! Wolves hunt at up to 40.3 mph (65 km/h), corner large prey together and kill by biting the flanks, neck and throat. But they don’t like to hunt us humans. The good news is: There isn’t one single official report of a healthy wolf attacking a human for food. But if a wolf is injured or can’t get away, it will defend itself.
