Pet Names Based on Cartoon Characters

You love watching TV and think your pet should have a cartoon character name? You’ve come to the right place!

Pet Names Based on Animated Series From A to Z:

Ok, admittedly: Not everyone has chipmunks like Alvin, Simon and Theodore at home, a sheep like Shaun or even a lion like Simba from The Lion King. Well, and hopefully no pests like Oggy and the cockroaches! Luckily, among the featured cartoon characters are cats, dogs, birds and rodents, too. Their names could be a great match for your pet. Here are a few examples:

• Cats

In Shaun the Sheep, there is Bitzer, the dog, but also a female cat. Its name is Pidsley. In Bugs Bunny, a black-and-white tomcat named Silvester chases after Tweety. Garfield? Is not the only cat in the cartoon. There are Nermal (also a tomcat) and Arlene (female cat), too.

• Dogs

Snoopy is THE name for a Beagle. Pluto and Goofy (mix of humans and dogs) are great for male dogs, too. Bitzer from Shaun, the Sheep would be awesome for a medium sized dog with a rather plump nose.

• Birds

Birds could be named Tweety (Bugs Bunny), Zazu (Lion King), Daffy Duck (Bugs Bunny) or Woodstock (Peanuts).

• Rodents

The rat from the Muppet Show is called Rizzo - what a cheeky name! Alvin, Simon and Theodore would be great for three guinea pigs. A gerbil could be named Speed Gonzales (from Bugs Bunny). By the way, there are many rabbits in Sesame Street with funny names like Angsthaas (Scare Hare). Especially in the German series there are some cute names: Hasi Himmelglück (Bunny Skyfortune) and Knut Knuffelström (Canute Pokeriver).

Is it a Matter of Character?

Not all cartoon characters are pets. There are humans, wild animals or even fantasy creatures. You could give your pet a name that matchtes with its character. A cheeky cat could be called Peppermint Patty (Peanuts) and a particularly musical bird Schroeder (Peanuts).

Fozzie (Muppet Show) could fit to a cuddlesome, clumsy dog. If you have a hamster running through his cage like a little ninja, then Leonardo or Michelangelo (TMNT) would be interesting too.
